Draw winners

The draw picks winners from desktop nodes that are signed in with an X Verified account and heartbeating. The explorer shows the live draw, recent winners, a leaderboard, and guest shares.

Step by step

1. Open Lottery. Height is the next block. Slot is its minute. Active is how many nodes are in the hat. Winners is how many spots this minute pays. Countdown is only a clock.
2. Recent winners list the handle paid for each height. Open the height to see the payout transaction.
3. The leaderboard ranks handles by wins. It is not a promise about the next minute.
4. Guest shares show a host who sent a percent of a spendable win to guests. Guests are not in the hat.

Example: One active node

Example: Active shows 1, and Winners shows 1. That one node is paid the whole block reward plus that block's network fees. If Active were 0, there is nobody to pay. After a halving, Winners goes up by one and the reward is split. Fees still go to the first winner.

Common mistakes

Counting the web wallet as Active. It does not heartbeat.
Reading Luck or the leaderboard as the next winner. The next winner comes from the shuffle of whoever is active.
Treating a guest payment as a draw ticket. Guests never enter the hat.

FAQ

Who is X Verified for the draw?: A blue check, or a business or government check, as X reports it to the seed. Referrals are stricter: they need verified type blue.
When can a winner spend?: After 100 blocks, about 100 minutes. Normal payments are spendable when they confirm.
Can the seed win?: No. The seed node signs blocks and is not in the lottery.
