X Coin
Supply
Supply is how many XFER the chain has paid, how many sit in burn addresses, how many can still move, and the most the subsidy will ever pay. The live numbers are on the explorer, not on this page, because they change every block.
Step by step
1. Open /api/supply. One JSON object holds the current height and every supply field.
2. Read /api/supply/max for the subsidy cap, /api/supply/total for XFER still in the supply after burns, and /api/supply/circulating for the circulating figure.
3. Issued and burned are fields on /api/supply, named issued_atoms and burned_atoms. They are not separate paths. Divide atoms by 100M to get XFER. The field atoms_per_xfer is that same 100M.
4. The burns array lists each burn address that holds XFER, with a label and an amount. That list changes as people create assets.
5. The same story, drawn as a staircase, is on the explorer Stats page. See Stats and supply cards and The chain.
Example
Example: How to read the fields (example numbers, not the live chain)
These figures are an example so the arithmetic is easy to see. Open the links above for the live chain.
- Issued (example)
- 1,000 XFER paid by lottery blocks so far.
- Burned (example)
- 100 XFER sitting in burn addresses.
- Total (example)
- 900 XFER. The API defines total as subsidy issued through this height, minus burn-address balances and provably unspendable outputs.
- Circulating (example)
- 900 XFER. The API says circulating is total minus protocol-locked balances, and this chain defines none, so it matches total.
- Max
- 21B XFER (20,999,994,999.727). The API calls this every coin the subsidy schedule will ever pay.
Common mistakes
Treating a number copied yesterday as still true. Issued, burned, total, and circulating move every block. Max does not.
Looking for /api/supply/issued or /api/supply/burned. Those paths are not on the explorer. Issued and burned are fields on /api/supply.
Expecting a lottery win to leave circulation for 100 blocks. The API says immature coinbase outputs stay in the circulating figure. The wallet still cannot spend a win until 100 blocks have passed.
Adding a founder allocation or a premine. The locked definition on /api/supply says there is no premine, vesting, or chainparams treasury.
FAQ
- What does issued mean?
- issued_atoms on /api/supply is the XFER the subsidy has paid, in the smallest unit. The chain page states the reward starts at 5,000 XFER and halves every 2.1M blocks.
- What does burned mean?
- burned_atoms is XFER held by burn addresses. Nobody can spend those coins. Asset creates send XFER there. See Fees and burn addresses.
- Why do total and circulating match?
- The API definition says circulating subtracts protocol-locked balances, and this chain defines none. Fees paid to a lottery winner stay in circulation.
- Where is the exact max?
- /api/supply/max shows the exact cap. This page writes that cap as 21B, which is 20,999,994,999.727 XFER. Supply and the halving staircase uses the same figure.
