Identities

An identity on the explorer is an @handle. It is the public name tied to Sign in with X, not a second wallet and not a blue check by itself.

Step by step

  1. 1. Open Members for every eligible handle, or search a handle.

  2. 2. The identity page shows that handle's wins and guest shares. Click through to the blocks that paid them.

  3. 3. A typed @handle in the wallet is not proof it is that person. Sign in with X is what claims the name.

  4. 4. Claiming a name does not cost XFER and does not require a blue check. The blue check matters for the draw, and a blue check of type blue matters for referrals.

  5. 5. Hat counts for a handle are public at /api/handle/{handle}/hat-stats. The field draws_all is the lifetime count. Explorer APIs.

Example

Example: Looking up a winner

Example: the lottery page shows @sample as a winner. You open that handle. The identity page lists the win and any guest shares. Members is the longer list of eligible handles. Neither page can spend the coins.

Common mistakes

  • Trusting a typed @handle in a chat as proof of a claim. The chain record is the claim.

  • Assuming every member is in this minute's hat. Eligible and active are different. Active means a heartbeat in the last 180 seconds.

  • Using an explorer address as a referral payout address. Referrals need a vault proof from the signed-in session.

FAQ

Does a handle hold the coins?
The coins sit on addresses. The handle is how the draw and sends-by-name find a person.
What if the explorer has never seen the handle?
Hat-stats answers 404, and the referral program treats that as 0 draws.
Where is the claim flow?
Sign in with X.
