Ideas and concepts

Ways people could use tokens, NFTs and Launch. These are starting points to think with, not recommendations, and not advice for your situation.

Creator and streamer tokens

A creator makes a token, fans get it, and the creator gives holders perks or sends them XFER. The name comes from your X handle, so fans can see the token is really yours.

Example: A YouTube channel

Make it: @alice signs in with X and gets the root ALICE for free. She creates ALICE/CHANNEL (100 XFER), or lists a token on Launch, where her @handle shows as the lister.

Fans get it: She links the listing in her video descriptions, and sends a few tokens by @handle to commenters who win a giveaway.

Perks: Holders get early access to videos and vote on the next video. Now and then she sends XFER to holders.

Example: X streams and posts

Make it: Your free root is your X handle in capitals. @bob gets BOB, so BOB/LIVE (100 XFER) is visibly tied to the account people already watch. Anyone can check the name on the explorer.

Fans get it: During a stream on X, viewers reply with their @handle and Bob sends them tokens by @handle. Viewers need a wallet with a claimed name to receive that way.

Perks: Shout-outs on stream, holder-only giveaways, and XFER sent to holders after a big stream.

Example: A Twitch streamer

Make it: Cara signs in with X to get CARA and creates CARA/SUBS (100 XFER), or lists a token on Launch.

Fans get it: She lists it and posts the link in chat, and drops tokens to regulars by @handle.

Perks: Holders get a private Discord role, vote on the next game, and join holder-only giveaways. She checks holders on the explorer before granting a role.

Example: A Kick streamer

Make it: Dan signs in with X to get DAN and creates DAN/CREW (100 XFER).

Fans get it: He sends tokens by @handle to viewers who join his community, and lists some on Launch for anyone else.

Perks: Holders get a stream role, shout-outs, and early word on the schedule. Sometimes he sends XFER to holders.

How sending rewards to holders works

See who holds it
Open the token on the explorer Assets page. It lists every holder address and amount. A Launch listing shows the holder count.
Web wallet
No pay-all button. Send XFER or tokens to each holder from Send, one address or @handle at a time.
Heavy desktop app
Rewards → Asset dividends. Schedule a snapshot at a future block. Once the chain is 60 blocks past it, pay a total amount of XFER, split among holders in proportion to what they held at the snapshot. You can leave out addresses, such as your own.
Node commands
The same thing by RPC: requestsnapshot, then distributereward. getdistributestatus shows progress. These need assetindex=1, which the packaged xcoin.conf turns on. A data folder that ran without it needs a one-time reindex.
Limits
Dividends work for a root or sub-asset, not a unique NFT. To pay in a token instead of XFER, your wallet must hold that token's admin (!) token.

YouTube, X, Twitch and Kick each have their own terms. They may limit tokens, giveaways or paid perks tied to their platform, so check them first.

Community funding with a listing

Instead of a donation page, a project makes a token and lists it on Launch. Supporters buy the token to show they back the project. The lister gets the creator fee on every trade. The XFER paid into the curve stays in the listing to pay for future sells; it does not go to the lister.

  1. Make NAME/PROJECT with a description file that says exactly what the token is and is not.
  2. List it on Launch and share the link with your community.
  3. Post updates on X and in the description file so holders know what is happening.
  4. Or skip Launch: supporters send XFER to your address and you send tokens back by @handle as a thank-you record.

Watch out: Say plainly what a holder gets, which may be nothing but the token. Do not promise that the token will gain value or pay anything back. Selling tokens to raise money can be regulated like selling shares in many places.

Tokens for members of a private company or club

A company, co-op or club issues a token as a record of who holds membership units. Moving the token records a transfer on a public ledger.

  1. Write the real agreement first, on paper, with a professional. The token only mirrors it.
  2. Issue a fixed-supply token, units 0, one per membership unit.
  3. Send tokens only to people the agreement allows. Keep your own register as well.

Watch out: Company shares are heavily regulated almost everywhere. A token does not replace share certificates, a shareholder register, or company law. Anyone can send a token on; your agreement decides whether that transfer counts.

Loyalty points

A café or shop gives points as a token. Customers redeem them for a coffee or a discount.

  1. Issue NAME/POINTS, units 0, reissuable, from the desktop app.
  2. Send points to customers by @handle after a purchase.
  3. Take points back as payment for a reward.

Watch out: Decide what happens to points if the shop closes. Say it in the description file.

Event tickets

Each ticket is a token or an NFT. The holder shows the token at the door.

  1. Issue NAME/EVENT with the exact number of seats, units 0, not reissuable. Or one NFT per seat, NAME#SEAT_A1.
  2. Send tickets to buyers by @handle.
  3. At the door, ask the holder to send the ticket back to you, then check the explorer.

Watch out: Refunds, resale rules and consumer law still apply the same as paper tickets.

Art and collectibles

Each piece is an NFT with its picture on IPFS. Sell it on Launch or send it directly.

  1. Create NAME#PIECE for each work, with the image and a short story in the file.
  2. List it, or send it to a buyer by @handle.

Watch out: Owning the NFT is not the same as owning the copyright. Say which rights, if any, come with it.

Receipts for real things

A token stands for a physical item: equipment, a vehicle, a piece of property, or a batch of goods. The description file holds photos, serial numbers and documents.

  1. Create one NFT per item, NAME#ITEM, with the details in the file.
  2. Hand the token over together with the item, so the record follows it.

Watch out: The token is a record, not a legal title. Property and vehicle ownership are set by local law and registries, which a token does not change.

Fan tokens

A creator issues a token fans can collect and send each other. It can unlock perks the creator chooses to offer.

  1. Issue NAME/FANS and describe any perks in the file.
  2. Send some to early supporters, or list it on Launch.

Watch out: Keep perks realistic. Do not describe the token as a way to make money.

Before you start

Tokens are public and permanent. Write the description file as if a stranger, a regulator and a judge will all read it. Learn the basics in Assets 101 and How Launch works.

The wiki explains how the software works. It is not legal, tax, securities or financial advice. Rules differ by country and change over time. Nothing here is a promise that XFER or any token will have value. Terms of Use.
